Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation / Hematogenic Oxidation Therapy

Hematogenic Oxidative Therapy (HOT)  is a form of  Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UBI) - a therapeutic procedure, often called "the cure that time forgot," that involves exposing a small amount of a patient's blood to ultraviolet (UV) light before reintroducing it into the body. Developed in the 1920s and popular before antibiotics, UBI is used in integrative medicine to stimulate the immune system, combat infections, and reduce inflammation.

How UBI / HOT Impacts the Immune System

  • Immune Stimulation: UBI / HOT enhances the body's natural defenses by activating white blood cells, specifically increasing the phagocytic activity of neutrophils and macrophages, which allows them to better engulf and destroy pathogens.

  • Antimicrobial Effects: The UV light acts as a germicide, killing or inactivating bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi in the bloodstream. Though there are no definitive studies yet, it is thought that it unfolds spike proteins.

  • Autogenous Vaccine Effect: By killing pathogens in the treated blood, UBI / HOT creates a "vaccination-like" response where the immune system is exposed to the fragments of the pathogens, enabling it to better recognize and target infections throughout the body.

  • Immune Regulation: In cases of autoimmune diseases, UBI / HOT can help balance the immune system, reducing overactive immune responses and decreasing inflammation.

  • Improved Oxygenation: UBI / HOT increases the ability of red blood cells to carry oxygen and stimulates their production, enhancing tissue oxygenation, which is crucial for immune function.
